In lieu of a traditional column this week, I wanted to share a brief note of thanks for all the love and support for our family leading up to and following the death of our mother, Patricia (Pat) Welshofer (a.k.a Mom Monster, as you may recall from a recent column.)
I especially want to extend my sincere gratitude to Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home for supporting not only my mom in her last days, but my sisters and me as well. Whether it was a bear hug or a cup of coffee, it was appreciated. The feelings of love, care and safety helping us through a very challenging time.
I’d also like to thank everyone who attended my TAP talk at the Silver Lake Brewing Project and donated to my somewhat impromptu fundraiser. Thanks to your generosity, we raised an incredible $300 to help Suzanne’s and its volunteers continue their compassionate care to those who need it most.
Having first moved here as a 7-year-old, just like my mother before me, Perry was home for a long time — whether I lived here or not. For most of the years I was away, I still considered Perry my real home because my parents lived here; their presence defining the feeling.
My mom and dad may both be gone from this home but I am hopeful they are together again in another and grateful that for me, Perry feels like home now more than ever.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kate Welshofer
Memories make you, family creates you. The bonds between you are connected spiritually. The memories you carry and places you go , they both are there with you and are enjoying the journey.
