Another excellent column and observation Kate. While women have borne the brunt of this I think minorities, immigrants and poor people share in this type of treatment. Keep writing.
The man in the suit has been misguided to be so sorely disconnected from life.
I totally agree with you on AI.
Moving on to your perceived observations on how men set the gold standard for women…generalities never work, especially in this time of a Fourth Turning for America. Many are coming to recognize we live in a world full of inversions. Men and women are designed differently by God for a reason, and that is to provide balance. The differences provide the tension needed for growth.
Nature always seeks a balance; it doesn’t fight or have “a war on….”.
Based on what you’ve relayed here, please be proud of your responses - I know I am. Thank You, Kate.
Perhaps women who have been the 1st and most prominent teachers in our world fear for a world where young people don’t bother to learn because it’s inevitable that machines can do it for us. From my travels & observation, I have seen the US fall further behind because of the proliferation of screens & teens on phones than the rest of the world. I don’t think it serves us well
I like your observation on AI. It makes me think back to when I first started working in the early 70's. I started working in preclinical research, before it was a course you could study or had a computer to record. We kept notebooks we wrote up everyday covering what we had done in the lab that day. Another thing, 85% of the lab workers were female, because it was a low paying job. We were meticulous workers. Another thing, if a man was hired doing the exact some job we were doing, they were paid more, because "they may have families". I never understood that. I am hoping there is more equity these days. AI could be a good thing for lab research, but nothing is better that critical eye of a human watching all the nuances of research, keeping track of what you are doing day by day.

Sorry you’re not feeling well-that was one hell of a column today. Thank you!
